Motorsport race seat experts Real Essential, located in Berkshire is to partner with Leicester-based automotive trim specialists CoverTec Solutions to develop material covering options for race seat in-fills and associated applications. The result could mean expansion, new jobs and innovative world leading products being developed in the region.

 

Real Essential Managing Director, Vaughan Cartwright said: “We wanted to develop our leading seat-infill product range further by offering complete high-performance trimmed seating options without compromising on safety or comfort. CoverTec Solutions bring a combined 40 years of bespoke quality automotive trimming experience to the partnership. Their unique custom manufacturing experience means that together we can increase our development for motorsport seat-infill systems, as well as exploring the non-motorsport applications for this technology.” 

 

The UK is already at the heart of world motorsport with many of the teams based here. Seating systems are essential to driver comfort, safety and driving performance in all motorsport. The partnership hopes to develop a range of seating systems building on poly-bead resin technology. While the technology is born of motorsport innovation there are many other applications which the partnership will explore with the promise of new jobs and expansion.

Another custom interior recover finished by us at CoverTec Solutions, and the customer is over the moon with the result of his Subaru re-upholstery, it was explained that he wanted trim the interior seats in black leather outers with red alcantara inners, complete with red stitching to match the alcantara, we went ahead with what was required and redesigned the bespoke seating with subtle changes to the design to accommodate the new materials, although the car is one of the early models it has, that cared for appearance to it, so the new leather and alcantara trimming is a perfect compliment to the outer of the car, the car arrived at our workshop in Wigston, Leicester, on the Saturday ready for us to start work on Monday and was completed by the following Tuesday.

The request for the interior trimming and leather upholstery in this Wrangler Jeep was make it bright and make it mine and i want it black and orange leather, so that’s what we did, the colour and grain of the orange used could not be purchased off the shelf from leather suppliers but we have a solution to that, to enable us to to retrim this vehicle we colour our own leather which is purchased as raw uncoloured hide and by applying our own colour mix of product onto the leather by hand we create our own skin of coloured leather hide, the black leather is standard auto hide. Our clients name is Maxine hence the MAX applied to the seat panels, the door cards needed to be constructed to get the level of orange trim required on them,we then applied the orange stitching to create the black and orange racy look. The headrests needed to be patterned and created as the original ones are blown moulded. The spare wheel had a wheel cover made for it to match the custom leather interior.

The Rally Show is a unique motorsport experience set in the spectacular grounds of Chatsworth House.
